Shwedagon Pagoda
For over 2500 years, legend has it that the original stupa was
constructed to enshrine eight hairs of the Buddha. Over the
years, Shwedagon has been rebuilt many times until it now towers
98 meters over the city. One of the most spectacular Buddhist
shrines in Asia, it is plated with over 30 tons of gold. The
base is surrounded by a fascinating assortment of temples, shrines,
statues and pavilions. It is a must-see tourist attaction as
well as one of the world's wonders.
Sule Pagoda
Sule is a 46-metre high octagonal pagoda, located at the center
of Yangon. Said to date back over 2000 years, the pagoda enshrines
a hair of Buddha. The pagoda is surrounded by an assortment
of small shops, astrologers and palmists.
Museums  |
National Museum

Located in downtown area not too far from the Guest Care Hotel,
the National Museum exhibits the Lion Throne of King Thibaw,
the last Myanmar King, Royal Regalia of 19th century, and artifacts
of various ancient periods. The museum also features historical
Myanmar musical instruments and paintings. It is open from 10:00
am to 3:00 pm except Saturday and Sunday.

Bogyoke (Scott) Market

The market was first built and inaugurated on the present premises
in 1926. It was named Scott Market after Mr. C. Scott, the then
Municipal Commissioner. Nowadays, it is called Bogyoke Aung
San Market in honor of our national leader General Aung San
who was assassinated in 1947. Bogyoke Aung San Market is situated
in the heart of Yangon - on Bogyoke Aung San Road. There are
1,641 shops selling luxury items, handicrafts, foodstuffs, clothing,
jewelery, fashion and consumer goods. The market is open daily
from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm except on Monday and gazette holidays.

Yankin Center Plaza
Junction 8 Shopping Center
Yuzana Plaza, Yankin Center Plaza, and Junction 8 Shopping Center
are among the many modernized shopping centers near the Guest
Care Hotel. There, you could buy traditional crafts, appliances,
Burmese music products, imported textile, women's, men's, and
kids' clothing (both modernized and traditional), and many more.
In addition, you could enjoy Burmese food, drinks and snack.
Kids can also enjoy their time at the game centers inside the
shopping plazas.

People's Square and People's Park
Set in over 130 acres of land between Shwedagon Pagoda and the
parliament building of Pyithu Hluttaw (parliament), the park
also contains a museum with life-size models of different national
races in national dress, flora and fauna. The restaurant inside
the park serves Myanmar, Chinese and European Food.
Zoological Garden
Located near Kandawgyi Hote, the Zoo is noted for its collection
of wild animals, flora and fauna, which have been collected
over the years since it was opened in 1906. On weekend and public
holidays Snake Dance and Elephant Circus are performed for visitors.
Bogyoke Garden
and Karaweik Hall

Bogyoke Garden, a scenic park with a lovely view of Kandawgyi
Lake, is located on Natmauk Road. The Park is a popular recreation
center where city-dwellers relax and enjoy their leisure in
peaceful tranquility. The playgrounds and picnic areas are favourite
spots for children and teenagers.
Named after a sacred mythological bird, Karaweik Hall is the
royal barge floating in Kandawgyi ("Royal") Lake.
Today it is used for banquets and other entertainment.

Yangon Aquarium
Mingalardon Garden, Hlaw Gar Wildlife Park, Yangon Zoo, and
Yangon Aquarium are also interesting sites to visit, and are
located not too far from Guest Care Hotel.
